Protection from USB Devices
Device Access Management
Recent surveys show that the biggest threat to networks often comes from internal users rather than external hacking attempts. Most networks have adequate security on incoming email and internet access, but very few have protection against USB devices (USB Keys, hard drives, Mp3 players). This gives pupils, students and staff an open door to try putting software, images and music files onto the network or copying installed software from the network, all of which are copyright infringements and create potentially costly liability.
It can also affect the integrity of the network and so increase the time and money required to maintain it.
e-safe education’s Device Access Management allows the manager of the network to create security policies and restrictions which take back control over not just USB keys but other devices that could be connected. Its flexibility allows the manager to determine whether devices are completely blocked, allowed or allowed with restrictions via a simple graphical interface.
